Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal team has released a nearly 12-minute video portraying the disgraced music mogul as a compassionate and reformed man, in a final bid to secure a lighter sentence. The video, reportedly set to be shown in court, features a montage of Combs engaging in charitable acts, including handing out £78 ($100) notes to children, comforting hospital patients, and gifting elderly individuals, all aimed at softening his public image.

The 55-year-old music producer was convicted in July on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and now faces a maximum of 20 years in prison. His defence is lobbying for a significantly reduced sentence of just two years. The emotional compilation includes footage of Combs with his children, posing with firefighters and community members, and tearfully reflecting on his family. The final minutes focus solely on his relationships with loved ones, culminating in a collective message from his children: “I love you so much.”

In addition to the video, Combs has submitted a four-page apology letter to Manhattan Judge Arun Subramanian, expressing remorse for his past actions, including domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura. “I literally lost my mind. I’m sorry for that and always will be,” he wrote, attributing his downfall to drug use and claiming to have undergone personal transformation during his incarceration in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.

Supporting his plea, inmates at the facility have provided handwritten testimonials praising his conduct while in custody. Combs has reportedly led weekly sessions titled “Free Game with Diddy,” offering guidance on entrepreneurship, health, and personal development. Fellow inmate Douglas Welch described Combs as someone who “brings love into the Unit,” while Quinton Davis noted that the sessions included insights on business management and even the use of AI tools like ChatGPT.

Although Combs was acquitted of the more serious racketeering and sex trafficking charges, the guilty verdicts still carry a potential 20-year sentence. However, prosecutors are now recommending a term of up to 11 years. The case has sparked debate over the prosecution’s strategy, with critics suggesting they overreached in attempting to secure convictions on more complex charges.

As the sentencing looms, Combs’ defence continues to emphasise his rehabilitation and positive influence behind bars in hopes of swaying the court’s decision.
