Last Friday (10), through a statement on social media and official websites, Soudal Quick-Step announced that Gianni Moscon will be on the team to participate in next year’s WorldTour. The signing of the cyclist fills the lineup for the following seasons, placing him as the last member of the team.

“I met Gianni a long time ago, as he was still an amateur. He will be an important addition to our squad for next season and we are confident that in our team he will be able to show beautiful things in 2024”, said Patrick Lefevere, team director, during the statement.

After Soudal Quick-Step’s announcement, the website Het Laatste Nieuws stated that the signing of Gianni Moscon could be doubtful as the cyclist’s record includes questionable cases such as racial abuse of Kevin Reza at the Tour de Romandie in 2017, expulsion from the Tour de France in 2018 and disqualification from Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne in 2020.
Upon learning of the article, the athlete reflected on his actions and declared that he has changed: “I think that anyone who knows me also knows what I am like. Obviously I’ve matured, but fundamentally I’m the same person. Coming here after two difficult years in my career means a lot to me and I want to thank everyone for trusting me.”
“Soudal Quick-Step is one of the biggest teams in the world, I could see that when racing against this team in the Classics all these years, it was always the team to watch out for, which was in the right place at the right time and made the race difficult. It was one of my goals when I turned professional to one day run for Soudal Quick-Step and I am very pleased that this will happen next season”, concluded the athlete.
