Ryan Coogler on Chadwick Boseman at San Diego Comic-Con 2022: ‘I can feel his hand on me now’

During the Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Ryan Coogler, the director of Black Panther, remembered Chadwick Boseman, star of the film who passed away in 2020. “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” making mention at the time the title was announced at the event.

“It’s been 5 years since I was here,” Coogler said as he took the stage, to  applause from the crowd. “Standing with you here right now…I can feel his hand on me now”.

“Chad is no longer with us physically, but his spirit, his pride and culture and his impact on the industry will be felt forever”, he continued.

Soon after, the cast also took the stage, emotional, and gave a warm hug. Then Lupita Nyong’o took over the microphone. “We are ready to invite you back to Wakanda,” she announced.

“Black Panther” was released in 2018 and is one of the biggest hits in the MCU. Being the first superhero film to be nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture. “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” opens in theaters on November 11, 2022.
